After Bulgaria’s accession to the European Union, the country became an attractive and secure place for foreign investments. To further boost the country’s economic growth, the Bulgarian Parliament passed in 2009 number of amendments in the Bulgarian Citizenship, Foreigners in Bulgaria and Investment Promotion laws, which enabled Non-European citizens and their families, who invest in Bulgaria, to apply for permanent residency and citizenship in a much simplified and shortened procedure.
Ukraine is one of the latest European countries which has passed a number of regulations aiming to attract foreign investors. With its fast growing economy, Ukraine is recognized as a reliable partner to the European Union, which, in 2016 lifted all travel restrictions for Ukrainian citizens. Moldova is the latest country which in 2018 launched its citizenship program. Greece introduced а law that allows citizens from any non-European countries to acquire a European residence permit by investment, granting them free movement to travel within the Schengen Zone. The Golden Visa Program in Greece is an investor visa and it can be renewed indefinitely as long as the main applicant keeps the investment, while there is no requirement to stay in Greece whatsoever.
In July 2015 the Portuguese government introduced a new investment solution that open the doors for more foreign investors. It is now one of the fastest and most transparent investor visa program in Europe, ensuring low property investment level, fast processing and a minimal requirement for residency. In 5 years, investors and their families become eligible for permanent residency and qualify for EU citizenship one year later.
